Pause before opening
Use with intention.
Only as long as you need.
MomenTap helps you pause before opening an app you selected and consider whether you need it right now. It also protects websites you select individually. To allow temporary access to one of them, open the Protection tab in MomenTap and choose 5, 10, or 15 minutes.
Troubleshooting
Frequently asked questions
The protection screen isn’t appearing
- In MomenTap’s Protection tab, check that protection is On.
- Check that you have selected at least one app, website, or category.
- Check that Screen Time access is approved.
- Save your selection again in protection settings, then turn on protection.
- If the problem continues, restart your iPhone and open MomenTap once.
Why doesn’t a category protection screen ask what I want to do?
This is expected. On a category protection screen, MomenTap cannot safely identify the exact app you opened, so it provides only a close button. To use temporary access, select the app individually.
Why don’t websites show the same two buttons as apps?
This is expected. In Safari, selected websites show Apple’s standard restriction screen and a confirmation button. MomenTap’s two custom buttons do not appear on that screen. For temporary access, open MomenTap’s Protection tab and find Temporary website access. Choose one website you selected individually, set a purpose, and choose 5, 10, or 15 minutes. The browser does not open automatically; return to it yourself after access starts. Other selected websites and categories remain protected. Apple’s public APIs do not guarantee the same behavior in every browser or for every subdomain.
MomenTap doesn’t open from an individual app’s protection screen
MomenTap supports iOS 26.5 and later. On a supported iPhone, choosing I have something to do on an individual app’s protection screen opens MomenTap’s purpose and access-duration settings.
The access time ended, but the protection screen hasn’t returned
iOS decides when background tasks run, so there may be a delay. Reopen the selected app to check. If it still isn’t protected, open MomenTap to check the status again.
Why am I asked for Screen Time access again after a restart?
After a restart, iOS may temporarily report existing Screen Time access as Not requested or Denied. MomenTap keeps the selection you previously protected on this iPhone. When you approve access again, it restores the saved selection and protection. To delete the selection, clear it in protection settings or use Reset all app data in Settings.
Does resetting all app data also revoke Screen Time access?
No. A reset clears MomenTap’s saved app, website, and category selections; protection requests; temporary access and session data; Live Activities; overall choice history; and app- and website-specific token links. It does not revoke the system’s Screen Time permission. You can revoke that permission separately in iPhone Settings.
What choice history is saved?
Choice history is off by default. When you turn on on-device choice history, MomenTap saves the times and end reasons for temporary access and choices not to open an app out of habit, without identifying the app or website. These records stay on this iPhone for 90 days by default. In versions with retention settings, your selected retention period applies. App-specific choice history and website-specific choice history each require a separate opt-in. They distinguish only new choices made after you opt in, using random references and a separate index of opaque Screen Time tokens. App names and plain-text domain names are not saved; Apple’s system UI displays them. Website statistics show the number and end status of temporary access sessions started in MomenTap, and the time protection was lifted. They do not represent actual visits or browsing time. Screen Time app category names, written purpose text, and raw Screen Time usage data are not recorded.
Is total access time the time I actually used an app?
No. Total access time is the time MomenTap temporarily lifted protection. It is not the time you actually used an app or website, and it is not collected from other apps’ Screen Time usage data.
